So mes amis, the moment is almost upon us. Yep, that one moment that's like Haley's comet, in as much that it appears very regularly but very briefly, then disappears again without having made any discernible difference to your life. This time, it's those elections to select our representatives to the EU parliament. The strange thing is, that regarding the way that the EU appears to work, it doesn't make much difference who the hell you vote for, this is because from what I've read, the elected MEPs don't actually have any power, it's the unelected commission who have the power, something that is often pointed out by some beer drinking fella, who's name temporarily escapes me! This is why I made the remark about it not having any "discernible difference to your life" .......Except for possibly, maybe, perhaps and by the grace of God, just this one time! Yep.....this one time, it could be like one of those tsunami moments, when something that happens deep beneath the surface, causes such a reaction on the surface, that everything is suddenly torn down and changed completely. Apart from that, remember that tomorrow, for a few short hours, you and I, actually count. How you think counts, and your vote counts. This time, and possibly once more next year, for the first time in many many years, you can make a difference. Previously you couldn't, and the reason you couldn't was because whichever party you voted for, nothing was gonna change, apart from different snouts being deep in the same old trough. This time tho'....there's a big bad wolf at the trough, and this old wolf, eats piggies. Cometh the man!
Anyway..enough of wolves, troughs and pork, 'cos tomorrow, in the solitude of the polling booth, it's between you and your conscience. I'm not advising which way for anyone to vote, each of us will decide for ourselves, what I would suggest, is in those moments just before you enter the booth, take just a moment, to remember the times in the last few months and years, when your blood pressure has gone through the roof when you have read some of the headlines about our this country's inability to do X,Y or Z .........because we no longer have the power to do X,Y or Z. Then take a deep breath, and do what conscience tells you. Good luck guys.

Bestest friend At last we agree about something if only for different reasons. You want out with the whole commercial upheaval that will cause. I want to stay in and return the EU to it's pre Euro association of trading countries. I think it will have to do this anyway because the Euro is tearing the present EU and it's token Brussel's parliament apart.

I notice that here counting does not take place until Sunday evening. Is it the same everywhere ? Alan I presume the counting will be on Sunday everywhere because there will be no results announced anywhere till all the EU countries have finished voting. Surely the counting could take place after each poll has closed and the results kept till Sunday. Are vote counters paid and do they get double time for counting on a Sunday?

The deed is done, the marks are made. Regarding our local elections though I think people are still living in past thinking Labour is for the working man....couldn't be further from the truth.
