It seems that you can put a fresh copy windows 10, the way you can within windows 8.1, with two other options, go back to windows 8.1 or use the disk to fix the install/start-up/restore backup etc... I did have a problem at first with the updates, in windows 8.1, you had the windows update within the control panel, which worked all the time, now it is not there it is only in the settings, which looks like the same as in windows 8.1, of which failed most the time, that is why I only used the control panel version. First, was my problem, didn't look in device manager to see that my printer had another setting null printer within HP envy, so un-installed that, fixed it, could update the system. Now it is a windows defender definition which is causing the problem and you cannot disable that, they will somewhere down the road re-enable it. I hope I'm getting some other updates which it needs.

Just got a new desktop (Novatech) with W10 installed,so feeling my way around it--SLOWLY !! I hope to use Edge as my main browser, and have just learned how to set up my favourites--via the trial and error method. After 12 years with AOL I am encountering a long learning curve.Having had to download and install several features I am making some progress.Must admit the additional ssd harddrive speeds things up enormously

Is windows 10 on the SSD and you have a large drive for storage? That's how my lads came the other month, your mostly used progs are added to the SSD so they open quickly.

I've been using it for a while now, and got kind of use to it now. In the last couple of weeks, I've received a driver for my Asus xonar Phoebus sound card, I really didn't like the Sonic pro driver, because of the audio quality, so I prefered it when they brought out a beta whql driver ( ROG) for Windows 10, jumped at that, and feel that it is so much better. Companies like Asus/Asrock/Gigabyte will be slow to bring out drivers, until it is out of beta, thats Windows 10, that is. As for bugs, only thing I can complain about was that windows defender thing, with a little research found that the reason for that was it was already installed, so just a little bug. Startup and shutdown is faster. I use the sleep a lot, didn't get much joy in Windows 8.1, it wouldn't sleep and would turn on by itself and I do have the same configuration as last OS. As for the 6th Oct thing, I half expected the new OS to come out of beta and then the smartphones to go to Windows 10 as well. But it was about Microsoft surface and other things or is it me being impatient? Ive never used system restore since XP, I've always deleted system restore files/shadow copies/update backup files etc... to save disk space. Whenever I need to restore it I use one of the backups I've created. Ive looked within my SSD Drive and cannot see why it looks as if I've got two OS's on there. So I'm thinking it still has Windows 8.1 still there and if I got to all settings, I have the ability to revert back to windows 8.1. So I'm thinking that this Windows 10 is a wrapped around Windows 8.1 and that is what Microsoft is going to do in future. Personally I would rather have the keycode and put a fresh copy of Windows 10 and nothing else other than Mobo/graphic/windows updates.

Upgraded to windows 10 from 7 today again. Apparently you have 1 month the revert back but I'm going to stick at it, I think I prefer the live mail to the windows 10 mail client, but its set up and working. Like you say Kings it would have been better as a new install and not an upgrade but beggars cant be choosers and it was for nowt.
