If they do a follow up visit, will we have to address your mail in future to the following address. 116 Welford Road Leicester Leicestershire LE2 7AJ Just across the road from my beloved Tigers stadium. A couple of my pals know it well JJ! No worries JJ....I don't need a tv license, for the same reason that I don't need a shotgun license. My ex tv now lives t'other side of the city in my grandaughter's bedroom. Fixed

I wondered if they came out to confirm it, looks like they do. Yep...I have done a little research on the subject. "TVL inspectors are employees of Capita, and are paid a basic salary with commission for each license evader they catch or licence that they sell"There are some very interesting and informative forums/sites etc out there about this subject!

Another email from those nice folk at the bbc. Your record is now up to date. Dear Sir/Madam, Hmmmmm.....reading that leads me to assume that they visit either some very stupid people, some very nervous scaredy cat people, or possibly they are telling porkies. Y'see, according to the above, you have to be either watching or recording live programs. So!.... Considering that the inspectors need to have a warrant to enter a premises, then either the householder is dopey enough to invite them in while they are watching or recording live tv, or they are watching or recording live tv when the inspector 'with a warrant and accompanied by a rozzer' turn up, or the householders bottle goes and they fess up. Unless of course, they are fibbing! BTW............You don't need a tv license to own a tv. ps......""It is not our policy, when administering a search warrant (which we always do in the presence of police officers) to force entry to an address if the occupier is not at home." The beeb Good luck with that beeb fellas.

Hi all. I've not owned a TV since 2008, so don't need a TV Licence.
After telling the TV Licence people that I don't own a TV, they told me that I would not hear from them for 2 years and that's what it's been so far and no one has ever turned up to check if I have a TV or not.
And despite what people think, the detector vans are NOT as accurate you the TV people will tell you. I used to know a guy who worked for them.
Craig.

I believe the old detector vans picked up the magnetic field from the CRT coils on the CRT tellies. These new LED and plasma tellies must be undetectable. They just assume everyone has a telly and needs a licence and if you don't have one you get a visit. There's always people being done for no licence in the local rag court reports.

We can't real moan about TV licensing, in some countries, they have to pay for it via things like water rates or electricity, so even if you don't have a TV, you still pay for a TV license.
Craig.
