I received that too last night. I'd been experiencing problems with critical updates always failing for a few months, so I clicked through to some MS troubleshooter and downloaded it. It auto ran and made some changes forcing a re-boot. After re-boot, Windows update served up 1803 and updates are now coming through again. This is quite unforgiveable because that lappy is used solely to connect for online banking. Nothing else. No installed software. Mediocre Micro$oft. Nothing new to see there in my limited experience. I haven't looked into all the new facilities yet, but I note it has an option for sharing between devices which could be useful provided it doesn't compromise security.

I had problems but I did a restore to 2016 from a portable drive then the updates worked. When I first put 10 on it was doing blue screens and other daft things. A constant beeb on boot indicated a Ram fault with this MB. I had four strips in and one was a different make to the others, removed and all was fine but I suspect it damaged some windows files, I tried the usual things SFC /scannow wouldn't run nothing worked so a restore it was.
This update seems to be centred round Cortana and speech recognition. I don't have a mike attached to this PC so I cant tell how good it is. I use AVG and that's not working now. The defender services are all running fine.

You are correct. The update dumped a Cortana icon on the desktop. It also (like every major "update") put all my shortcut arrows back, so first up regedit and get shot of them.
I don't run virus checkers on Windows boxes. "Madness!" I hear you all crying, but I don't do downloads or vist porn sites. All that particular machine ever does is visit the Nationwide website. I do use the Sophos Virus removal tool and run it every now and then before climbing the wooden hill. Nationwide expect that and it's not an unreasonable requirement, but it does not run in the background- only on demand. I can spot evil eMails and filter them first anyway on my Android devices which all run Sophos. You ought to experience how much more lively a Windoze box is without the boat anchor of a virus scanner hanging around its neck.
I still can't say I enjoy the Windows 10 experience. I dislike the disappearing scroll column. So many of the utilities are hidden away somewhere and I get bored with trying to find them only to discover old familiar routines that have just been squirreled away somewhere else. It's like playing "Where's Wally". I know it's just a learning curve but it's also re-inventing the wheel.
As noted, other than the Sophos tool, that lappy has no installed software installed- just the OS. On that device, having such failures with updates just highlights what a heap of dung Bill's bilge can be.

Updated 10 machines without any problems so can't agree with your assertion about Bill's bilge.

The clue is in the fact that I only use the W10 lappy for banking so I'm not familiar with it. Trouble is, I well remember the lost years staring at recalcitrant Microsoft PCs, and when I encounter the same old same old on a machine with what amounts to a fresh virgin install it brings back those memories. I am still using W7 Pro on several machines and having been forced to let go of XP, I consider that W7 is about as much screen bling as I need from Redmond. I'm happy that you are enjoying all the improvements that come with the latest operating systems, but for me it comes across as re-inventing the wheel to bolster up dwindling market share. I had my pension planner come around last week for me to sign lots of documents and her W10 notebook was frozen. She told me that everyone in her office had a low opinion of it. With my experience of just the one PC I cannot be held as a representative viewpoint, but she's not the only one I've heard grumbling. The Brits hate change and love to grumble and I'll include myself in that generalisation!

Using my Linx Tablet
Windows 10 version 1803 keeps on failing.
It goes right through everything Restart - Agree all terms & conditions etc, then it says restoring to your previous version of Windows, 14 times I`ve tried & it's failed each time.
Any suggestions anyone on how to get it to download and stay downloaded
Thanks

I'm thinking the sound problem is drivers. Right click the window symbol then device manager then update any sound devices by properties drivers update drivers. JJ I had this problem and it was a corrupt windows from some dodgy RAM I had. Try this, but even that wouldn't run on mine. I used a backup image to go back to 2016. www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-sfc-scannow-to-repair-windows-system-files-2626161

Thanks everyone for your replies.
My HP i7 Laptop downloaded the W 10 1803 update without any problems
My HP i3 Laptop dowloaded it all then came the Blue screen and asked me what language I wanted, so UK obviously.
Then still on the Blue screen it asked me if I wanted to Rollback to a previous Windows version so I clicked OK.
It then came up with a different picture with a sign in page and box, which I obliged and signed in.
Next it came up with a Black screen with just the Trash Can and barely little else.
After this it didn't allow me to do any more.
So I took it back to Tesco's and they gave me the choice of another HP i3 laptop or my money back there was no quibling about it.
So I've got another i3 HP laptop on the way.
My Linx Tablet has had about 15 goes at downloading the same W10 1803 update and still hasn't succeded yet, but also hasn't had any problems Rolling back to a previous version of Windows 10.
Thanks
