Just a simple question from a simple soul. I want to do a system restore as I have a problem which is driving me bonkers, but when I click on 'Get more restore points' it will only go back about 5 days. is there any way I can go back further as I am sure the problem was before that. cheers

If you open control panel and click recovery, click open system restore the restore wizard should open make sure the show more restore points box is ticked.

Hi dinger
Had a look at my system restore and it appears that i've only 5 restore points. Had a quick look on the web and it seems that Some maintenance software remove restore points. I will have another search later today.

Maybe not enough disc space is allocated for System Restore.
Open Control Panel Click recovery Click configure System Restore When the box opens click configure Move the slider to allocate more space Click OK.
That should give you more Restore Points
Just remembered i'd cleared out some old Restore Points a couple of weeks ago

Hi fletch. I am running w7 on a packard bell desktop, and have recently aquired a dell laptop which I am practising on a running w7 whichj I thought I might upgrade to w10 to try it out.I havent said too much about my original problem, as it has been a nightmare. I have an epsom XP412 wireless printer and for some reason it stopped communicating with my desktop, saying it was offline when in fact it was switched on, and I didnt know when the problem started. I had put on a program suggested by the mag called iobit malware fighter which although they said it was safe, and I have 'unchecky' it also loaded 'advanced system repair' which took a while to get rid of, and I thought that had started my problems. when I tried to do a system restore, I culd not get very far back but I tried the earliest and lo and behold it said it had failed with a code Oxc0000022 which a google suggested I had a problem with my registry. I went into safe mode and managed to undo the system restore which was supposed to have failed, and when I rebooted the printer printed two jobs it had tried. Eureka but when I tried later it was offline again. {Arnt you glad you asked!!}epson support page had showed me how to do a ping test in cmd, and it showed it was duff and not communicating again with the desktop. I was waiting till after the easter hols to have a chat with epson to see what they may suggest, when I thought I would try once more to get a system restore back to before the offending progs were put on, and that is where we are now.cheers I will try the link to get back earlier

Well the plot thickens. I installed a windows update about an hour ago, and I have just restarted the computer and brouht the printer outof sleep, and it printed the document I tried to do earlier, and is now showing as being 'ready' instead of 'offline' dont you just love them.
