Sorry forgot to put price £599.95
Wasn't sure how good the Intel HD Graphics 5500 was as I've got on my Acer laptop NVidia GEForce9600M GS Cuda 512mb

Thanks everyone for your imput on the laptop.
It was the rating of the Intel HD5500 Graphics that was the thing that concerned me, but as I don't play games on it it probably doesn't matter that much, unless anyone knows different Thanks

Go for the highest spec you can afford John.

Technology has moved on and those integrated graphics are going to be much better than they were in yesteryear. As stated, if you're not a gamer it'll be fine. My yardstick would be to establish how large and at what resolution an external screen it'll drive. (You might want to watch a film on your tele one day.) That information is difficult to establish, I know because I have tried to do just that only recently. For it's intended purpose on the lappie it'll be fine. Good advice to go as cutting edge as you can afford, but don't get entangled in the spiral of attempting future proofing- you'll not win that battle John!

Just one more question.
Does anyone know if either of these - ASUS, or Levono laptops is any better than the other or doesn't it matter which make you get as it's the contents that count more.
Thanks

Well, Lenovo is the phoenix from IBM's consumer division ashes, and there's an old IT adage that goes along the lines of "No IT employee ever got fired for specifying IBM kit"
Personally, I'd go for Lenovo. Just take a look at the Lenovo website support section for the idiot-proof tear down and rebuild videos. Fantastic.
My nephew got into Eton by sheer hard work (and with a bursary!). We bought him a lappie as a reward. When it packed up, not only did those videos come in like the cavalry, it also transpired that Lenovo had the good sense to make the DC input socket a daughter board. Up and running in no time. Big downer though- Lenovo got rumbled recently for bundling extremely questionable software on their machines (now removed I believe).
Then again, my Nexus7 Android tablet was made by Asus and that's really well made too. I'd still go for Lenovo but YMMV.

I guess I should have written "All other things being equal I'd go for Lenovo". If the Asus was much less expensive (or much higher in specification) then my wallet would decide.
