Rumours that it will be replaced by a poster advertising Burger King's flame-grilled Whopper couldn't be substantiated as we went to press.

At least we can rely upon the Cornwallians to do a proper job.

A male 25 year old dingy diver harasses a 15 year old girl in Liverpool and people kick off, the media calls them right wing.

As I noted in the charity thread, we had our peepers checked yesterday. All good. Well, not quite.
That opticians used to be called The Optical Shop, but now it's "Bayfields". I don't recall ever having given my permission to Bayfields to hold on file my personal information. Used to be you had to go to Boots for Zeiss. Not any more, Zeiss adverts everywhere in the shop, flyers, big LCD screen with the subliminal advertising, antiseptic wipes, you name it- bloody everywhere. Guess what? Zeiss are considerably pricier. The final straw was making Best Beloved sign a waiver for having her frames reglazed, AND- double whammy- whacking her for forty sovs because she wasn't buying new frames. They were nice folk in there but that £40 did it for me and I declined any new glass because even the fella had to concede I'm still only borderline for needing them to drive and I can see well enough, I hope they enjoy their forty squid, I'm off elsewhere, even assuming I'll inevitably get the same attitude, that forty nuggets cost them a customer. That on top of new retinal scans for us that are not covered by the free tests- another £40 each. What a shame the lenses aren't £40 as well? What's with this number 40?
The Optical Shop reglazed some frames for me two years ago without slamming on any penalty, and even transferred the glass from some reading glasses to another frame I had, put on new nose pads and fashioned some replacement unobtanium ear socks (sic) F.O.C. at the same time. Result- I came back for more. I'll tell you the name of the game boys- like Pink Floyd said; "riding the gravy train". They need to take notice of all the other things folks are struggling to pay for.
My bill; £40. 'Er Indoors; a pint and a packet of crisps left out of £600 and no new frames. 'uck 'em.
They would have better rebranded as "Gouge, Skewer & Spitroast".

youtu.be/EUaU4W6loFoOK this is half an hour of your life you won't ever see again, but just be impressed by this smart Oirishman as he hacks a scam centre in (who'd a thunk it?) Delhi of all the godforsaken cesspits you could conceive of, and tries in vain to help the patently unhelpable (if that's even a word?) Be not amazed by the turgid response of yer garden variety plod though. でつ e&oe ...

Ha! Hero to zero.
That said, I still have time for him even though he represents much of what I don't like. In this prescient irritating woke soup, I need yer BoJos and yer Clarksons because I find the constant balancing on the fence of peer scrutiny a PITA.

I had one test several months ago. I promptly turned off the function. Best Beloved has been getting them on a fairly regular basis for the last two months at least.

It's supposed to be testing the networks for emergencies, but how many times do they need to do it? 'Er Indoors had two in about a quarter of an hour on one occasion. I figured that they've scored a direct hit on mine once and that's going to have to be the finish of it. It's only a test- you can turn them off, but I don't think you can disable the three minute warning when it comes, and quite right too.
