Just been trying to make sense of this universal credit malarkey..  Anyway it says a couple over 25 from April will get £498 a week.!!! plus additional payments if they have sprogs. Out of that they have to pay their landlord their rent etc..Looks like there will be plenty of landlords out of pocket and plenty of universal credit receivers in Benidorm..YCNMTU,clearly this government has no understanding of how a lot of these peoples minds work...we shall see. |

Phil, I think you'll find that £498 is the MAXIMUM amount that they will get. Ergo, if their rent is £300 pw, then they will either have to survive on the remainder or find somewhere cheaper to live. Don't forget, some of these people are living in virtual sodding mansions, especially around the London area, and we are paying for them! |
