I could log out, run up a tor program to change my IP then create a new user. A certain troll on CA used to fiddle it that way!

Does it really matter how many posts are made? Surely, it`s just nice to be posting on these forums without worrying about how many have been made.

I could log out, run up a tor program to change my IP then create a new user. A certain troll on CA used to fiddle it that way! Yep - I know who you are referring to. If, for whatever reason, someone wants to hide his/her IP address from most searchers, he may consider chaining, say, Privox with Tor or a similar proxy. This won’t guarantee remaining anonymous but your chances are much improved if you know what you’re doing. But you should also assume that what you do online can ultimately be traced back to you. Your ISP is another factor in the equation. If you have your own website, harvesting IP addresses is not illegal, nor difficult if you know how. You may just be checking who is nicking your bandwidth, etc. It’s what you do with these addresses that is relevant. No doubt you will remember the “oops” ploy … very naughty … but no action was taken despite the Mods being notified. I don’t think the “Mods” even realised what was going on. I have no doubt that my own address was harvested, but two can play at that game … oops. With the recent migration of displaced CA members to WU and here, most folk retained their old usernames. It didn’t take me long to find the ones that didn’t … for whatever reasons. In my case, Spitfire was not available, so I became Tornado. Spit

In my case, Spitfire was not available, so I became Tornado. Spit Surely the urge to become Hurricane should have superseded Tornado by a vast number of years.
