Your know when you read a post that begins, "rain here" or "it's a lovely day here", do you wonder where "here" is?. I do.
On the left of the page where our name/avatar sits and the number of posts is recorded, would it be something to consider entering a location? it need not be precise, a county would do. Then the post might have some sort of meaning?. What do you think?

I think over the years this forum has been going, most members know fairly precisely where other members hang out (Peter sometimes gets confused but that's the potcheen) But I don't mind saying I'm a Leeds lass for the last 50 odd years, though previously a Mackem

I appreciate that guys, hopefully if and when others follow suite, I will try to remember. Some of you know, but for those who don't, I'm usually found on the beach in Weymouth, looking for anything washed up, (not like some of our members, ha ha).

In case you missed it I'm from Ulster and so is Pierre. I'm from the Derry end, ie the North and Pierre's on the SE coast where the mermaids frolic.

How's Bedford these days Rogerman ?
Back in the early 70's, when I worked in London, I lived in Bromham, a nice quiet little village in those days. There was a beautiful old packhorse bridge leading into the village, crossing the Great Ouse, I think . . . it's a long time ago.

There was a beautiful old packhorse bridge leading into the village, crossing the Great Ouse, I think . . . it's a long time ago. Bedford is "made" by the River Ouse and the embankment which are the beauty of the town. As with many places these days there are too many charity shops, pubs, etc., in the main street. The other problem is when in town one wonders if you are abroad because of the many languages spoken, but that is another topic. Bromham still has it`s packhorse bridge but the village is now bypassed so only local traffic uses the bridge. Bedford also now has a southern bypass which takes east-west traffic away from the town centre and another bypass to the west of the town is to be built to link the southern bypass with the north A6. Have a look on Google Earth - you will find it interesting.

We had a few holidays there 55 or so years ago.Just remembered it was London Rd, close to the station. Kessington Gardens I think it was, right at the far end where they had motorized boats which you were able to hire. Then I had an elderly aunt/uncle who stayed more central and he would wander down to watch the fishing boats unload. Bedford, one of our favorite towns for a day out. Both accessed from our then home in Northants. PS, have remembered the pissing statue in Bedford.

I've lost count of the number of times the train has taken through your town and not once did I ever set foot there. As for you duyuthinkysaurus, this thread has taught me something I did not know. Never in a million years did I know that Cornwall is known by the name of Kernow to those of you that live there. Times I have traveled to, stayed in and flown from Cornwall. Often seen the word in gift shops, and wondered what it was and at my ripe old age, I find out, well sod me.

you know what they say, you learn something new every day and the second for today is that the one from Kernow is known on here as Dinky, we're all much to lazy to type his full name
