We spotted someone stealing from a charity shop today. It was a brand new ornament costing £4.99. She picked it up placed it in a pushchair and walked out. I watched her exit along a busy street whilst my wife informed the only flustered assistant on the till. I've written a full account to the local paper giving chapter and verse, ending with "that's the bad news. The good news is that we will recognise her next time we see her". Hope she might feel a touch of guilt. It was a BHF shop.

Probably Romanians, they will have anything away that's not nailed down.Local shops in our area are fed up with them. Same as our doctors, they have not stopped you walking into the surgery to book and appointment, phone only now as the Romanians/Slovaks kept coming in demanding appointments and when they were told there weren't any left they started showing off.

Maybe the local constabulary would have been better than the local paper?

They will take over all crime, they are already on their way. They have even got their women selling the Mags on the street so they are classed as self employed and can get onto benefits quicker. Power to UKIP to get us out of it.

I avoided giving any ID about the person, but it was a lady who was dressed very smart from top to toe in a single colour, She clearly takes care in how she presents herself to the outside world. Not mutton dressed as lamb, but smart elegant. No shopping bag etc, just a child's pushchair to carry items/loot. She was clearly British. We are of the opinion she is local. As for the police station, it is out of town and it would mean two buses for us. No local access in town and not a copper in site.
When we found a purse with an unsigned bank card last week, we could not find a policeman and had to trace the individual via the internet and deliver it to her myself and received a ......................................still waiting!

It will only get worse when Ukraine joins the EU. I give to the BHF shops. I would hate to think my stuff would be worn by an Eastern European.

Been into the shop and asked to speak to the manager and then told her of our experience. When I'd finished, she told me that the item in question had been missed and it hadn't gone through the till and to have me tell her we had witnessed it being taken, brought a smile to her face. She couldn't wait to view the cctv footage as we'd given her a time and ID.
I aim to go in again tomorrow to see what if anything she has to say.

Well done Colin, they are low when they steal from a charity. Lets hope the coppers nail them.

When I was a young hospital technician, patients were asked to bring a urine sample in a clean glass bottle. One patient told us that his sample had been stolen from his pocket, whilst on the bus, but he wasn't really bothered as it had been in a miniature Johnny Walker bottle.

campbell, can I ask you a question? Do you actually like having all the foreign influx from countries like Romania, Latvia and eventually Ukrainians coming here? Their standard of living and wages are low compared to ours so they come here to earn better money which they send home. How does that benefit our economy?

Their standard of living and wages are low compared to ours so they come here to earn better money which they send home. How does that benefit our economy? Finally, a reasonable question! Okay, I don't mind anyone who comes to the UK and works, pays taxes and buys goods etc, therefore paying vat and adding to the country. I'm not sure what the implications are of money being sent abroad, it's probably not good for our economy in some way or another, but that isn't the fault of someone who is earning an honest living. I don't like the fact that we allow people to come over and claim benefits straight away, I think that people should put in before they take out. However, that goes for 'british' people who have never worked a day in their lives. I've worked since I was 13 in one form or another, so I know that it is possible to get work. I can't abide the characters from a benefit street type situation, some of which are committing crime to live, or benefit cheats etc. Do I think all eastern Europeans are going to be hard working? No. Do I think they're all criminals? No. And the same answer for people from the UK. Scaremongering and labeling makes my sh*t itch. Take people as you find them, not what you think you know from the press, which has always got an agenda.
