I have got 2 wireless mice which will work on the PC (W7) but not this laptop (Vista). They start to download and install but stop saying there is a error and can't continue. Is there something I need to change in any settings or is Vista too old for them.

They should work Bob plug em in and look in device manager and see what it says under USB devices, it may be as simple as Dave says plug em in another socket.
If not in device manager update drivers. Let windows find them on the internet.

Tried all 4 USB sockets. This is what I get for both.

Searched the web sites, no drivers available/needed.I am thinking about doing a restore to factory conditions/clean install as I got this lappy from a mate who didn't want it any more. That might solve the problem.

Worth a shot Bob, if all else fails get a vista comparable mouse. Though if it works on 7 then vista shouldn't be a problem.

I just wondered if something was stopping it from installing the drivers, would trying it in safe mode with network do it I wonder?

Does it see the mouse in device manager. Then try to install drivers. Try deleting the USB sockets reboot and let windows sort them out. Then try the mouse.

Right click on the top one uninstall, then reboot.

Uninstalled the top one, but didn't get a chance to reboot as it installed them straight away. I think I will go back to a wired mouse.

What make are the mice Bob? I have a Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse combo and they work fine using Windows Vista.
