That as every year passes, fewer and fewer people ask for computer help on computer forums. I don't mean help with apps or 'which is the best' questions, but help as in fixing o/s problems. I'm guessing that it's 'cos the later Windows puters come with either W7/8 installed, complete with MSE. Anyway, there are several very good A/Vs around and other anti-malware stuff that's easily found! Also the kids learn this stuff at school. Also a lot of kids go for Macs these days, after all it's the parents who are paying, plus 'Apple' stuff is 'cool'. A few of us even mess with Linux, which appears bullet proof. Whichever, the times they are a'changin! Edit... of course none of this applies to my pals, who could find a way to screw up almost anything. Pffft an aircraft's 'black box' ....... my pals would knacker one up in two minutes!

My grandchildren don't tend to use computers for pleasure, they use them for college work and the aps on tablets or phones for playing. But otherwise I think you're right, the systems are much more stable nowadays if you keep your AV updated and don't click on dodgy links

That long? What are they doing that's so slow? LOL. I think a lot of it is also down to the fact that people have learned a lot from computer help forums, I know I have. These day's I can solve most PC problems I have or at least I know where to look on the net whereas when I got my first modern PC, I didn't even know which wires went where. And as you say Rats, it's got a lot to do with the O/S, I've had this Win7 lappy since November 2011 and not really had any problems with it. I really liked XP, but I think 7 is a lot more stable, don't know what 8 is like as I've never used it. Craig.

Craig, 8 is extremely slow, and has been created solely to make Microsoft money from advertising as far as I can see. Apart from which I hate it with a passion, unfortunately my new laptop came with it installed. Have tried to put Linux on it (with help from my friend Rats) but totally failed

Got 8.1 on the phone Craig, its a smashing bit of software but on a PC, As for people not asking about problems just shove the problem in google and the answers there. You couldn't ask on CA the delay in getting the question approved meant you were probably sorted before the mods got round to logging on.
