Ah!....so they have changed our anthem, 'Jerusalem' it is. I'm comfortable with either LOHG or Jerusalem, never have seen quite why we should play 'The Queen' at our sporting events, it is after all the British national anthem. (a bit dirgy too) Oooerr....the Tower for old Rats!

The opening ceremony was ok,but those who criticised it were nearly all Scots. Most found it quite embarrassing. I think Rod Stewart is well past his best.

I must confess that I switched it off after a while, those dogs, and especially that fella who seemed to be dressed like a 19th century country yokel, were too much for me!

and silver in the men's triathlon for the Brownlee boys, our chariots of fire. What a start for England, we need a good lead if we want to finish ahead of those rascally Aussies in the medal table.

To be honest, I had no idea at all who that Barrowman fella was. My pal Boycie tells me that he's a Canadian comedian, I'm still no wiser!

and silver for the Jockos in the 200 breaststroke, bronze for us. The strange thing is, I always expect either the Aussies or Saffas to clean up in the pool!

Well it certainly didn't help him prove otherwise if he isn't.

So, I switched on to watch a bit of the amateur boxing and the first thing I noticed.........no head guards! Jeez, I hadn't realised that they were no longer used in amateur boxing, and by the way, it isn't called amateur anymore, just boxing. In the commonwealth games anyway! I thought it was strange, when a commentator mentioned that the English super heavy had fought in that prizefighter tournament. But then again, nobody tells me owt!

Spit ... drinking a can of chilled lager as he types ... aaaahhhh.
My BG hub is hard-wired to my main hub, and it alerts me by flashing and also by e-mail when the indoor temperature reaches 25 degrees. I've been getting these alerts every day for the last week. Aye man .. it's awfy hot up here.

Well, while I'll watch almost any sport, I even watched some of the women's hockey and netball yesterday, I'm really looking forward to the track and field, which in my opinion, is what both the commonwealth and olympic games is really about. But....I'll have a look at the rugby sevens, which I think starts today.
