This confounds me: I check in several times each day yet I missed your September 4th post with no recollection of it? Mojo's MO seems to be to flood post for a spell and then take an extended hiatus. It's good to hear you're still plugging away Dave. I hope he's doing fine too.

Still no sign of Mojo, despite e-mails and PMs. Hope for the best, fear for the worst!

Good evening friends,
Just popped in to give a donation for this very worthy cause. As you may be aware, I give a daily click on the BC site which covers nine good causes, but does not include a Prostate one, so every little helps by giving a small donation as suggested in Jal's original post.
Mike.

Good evening,Mike. Its good to see you here in the remote depths. It gets a little lonely here since Mojo disappeared, but there's a wealth of good information which he left. Pity about the lack of PC clicks, but I too visit the BC site daily.

Good evening Dave, Thanks for your welcome. We always try to give, when possible, to these worthy causes, especially around this time of the year, when our letter box works overtime prior to the Festive Season with requests for these worthy causes.
Since my short time at the Squatters, I have been impressed with everyone’s stalwart support and tenacity, to overcome these terrible types of cancer.
I only hope that sooner rather than later, they will find cures for these terrible kind of illnesses, and sincerely hope that the companies, (manufacturers) who will be making that antidote, will not price it out of use for the NHS treatment.
All the best Dave,
Mike.

Thanks for your kind words. Cost is a major problem,in that the drug firms want to recoup their development costs, and we can't afford them! Thank goodness for the NHS. My aberiterone tablets cost around £2000 per month, and there are many more expensive treatments around in the world of oncology. What's the answer? I don't know. I'm just getting along from day to day. Best wishes to you and Mrs T. David

A cautionary tale for those of you who, like me,have advanced prostate cancer. Despite the best efforts of aberiterone,I have secondary tumours in my spine. One of them has decided to press on the nerves feeding my legs, giving me some loss of feeling.I mentioned this in passing, thinking that it was another of those little annoyances one has to live with. Apparently not. Off I was sent for an MRI scan, the result of which was not to the liking of my oncologist,so I ended up having an urgent course of radiotherapy at the centre 2 hours away. Visits for 5 consecutive days, although the treatment was for less than a minute each time, and no driving for the duration. As I am the only driver in the family, the hospital car service had to be used, which made each visit virtually an all day job. I expect to be back to what passes for normal in a week or so. So,if you have any unexplained tingles, aches or pains, make sure that the professionals are aware of them. Mine was caught just in time.

Well,it looks like the aberaterone has ceased to work in my case,so it's off for another round of CT,MRI,and bone scans,to determine the extent of the tumours efforts to take over. Options won't be discussed until the extent of the damage is known. All of which is a bit odd to me, cause I feel like a bit of a fraud....I'm keeping a steady weight, and don't feel ill at all, apart from a bit of tiredness caused by the anaemia due to lowered blood making capacity. Anyway, enough of this maudlin talk, and good news for new sufferers in Wales.....we've got a robot surgeon coming,to do the prostatectomys more accurately.About time too.

Dave, I just wanted to say how I admire your stoicism regarding all the treatment you are having to endure.
I sincerely hope the new prostatectomy treatment which, as you say, may be carried out by mechanisms (robots) that can move automatically will bring safer relief to a lot more people.
I wish you all the best with your future treatment Dave.
Mike.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-48422081Another small step for man!....If you live in the right area!! On a personal note, the attention to detail by the radiotherapy staff, and a bit of personal temporary discomfort, had the same effect for me some 10 years ago.

That is an interesting site Dave. I have just received a 'thank you' letter from the director of research at Prostate Cancer UK, thanking us for our gift in helping to fund research and improve prostate cancer diagnosis for all men. Their work has helped many men get advanced mpMRI scans for for a more accurate diagnosis, enabling them to get the right treatment earlier.
