If, for example, I wanted this: as my avatar, how do I go about it? I've copied and pasted the urls time after time only to be told that they are unsuitable. The only result is the word 'Avatar' appearing where the avatar image should be.

No problem W1 No need to Copy/Paste.... Profile>Edit Profile, click upload link, select 1st option, click open when you have found your image, done. I will of course remove this AV, when you have sorted yours.

It's a fabulous avatar Weaver, I can understand why you would want to use it. Now if only we could get him to play 'Flower of Scotland' every time you posted, that would be just wonderful.

I do like that image for the sole reason that, minus the bagpipes, it reminds me of my wedding day many moons ago I don't need him to play Flower of Scotland though - I married her!

Well your memory's quite good then Weaver When we have a very large photograph hanging in the living room, of us on our wedding day (with me in the kilt and my new wife in her dungarees), you dont need a good memory to remember these things Jal.

Well your memory's quite good then Weaver I wish Jal, I wish. Do you know that I have been using computers for the past 20+ years, have had 5 of my own computers over the past 10 years, and know less about them now than I did 20 years ago.Time after time after time I have been told about files, folders and everything else to do with computers, but still have no idea where to start. As I look at this keyboard, I honestly have no idea what the function is of the keys with F1, F2 etc are;what the 'windows' key is for; what the 2 long horizontal arrows above Caps Lock do;I assume that Ctrl means Control but have no idea what it controls; the function of the key to the left of '1'; and the keys to the right of the keyboard, although I am sure that I've been told often what they are for, I just dont touch because I have forgotten. On a good day, I can copy and paste a link, download an image and delete unwanted programmes via the Control Panel. Everything else I have forgotten and rely on a favourites bar to take me to the places I enjoy like this one.

What a lovely sentiment Bob, I'll have to mention it to my own 'flower of Scotland'. We married 46 years ago, although I wasn't wearing a kilt and my bride wasn't wearing dungarees. I thought all brides wore white . . . to match the kitchen appliances

"I thought all brides wore white" . . .Usually yes, but on this occasion, white didn't match her tackety boots and I wanted her to finish building the garden shed instead of coming to the reception. Seemed a bit peeved at the time. Wonder why?

Hi Weaver But you can do Avatars and also I've seen on the CA forums you now how to do writing and make things move about. And also instructed members on how to do it.

Hi Weaver But you can do Avatars and also I've seen on the CA forums you now how to do writing and make things move about. And also instructed members on how to do it. Thanks for the vote of confidence Jal but the truth is regardless what I can do on any particular day, the chances of my being able to do it on another day are extremely limited. I have been trying for 3 days to make the little bagpipe playing Scot my avatar and have I succeeded? Likewise, even if I have been making things move about, writing on screen at', or even giving instructions how to do these things, at this very moment, I wouldn't know where to start. However, I do have a favourites bar that takes me particular CA forum pages that give instructions on how to make things happen on screen. Back to the wee Scots guy, I have tried again without success. He is here: www.picturesanimations.com/scottischbut when I copy and paste his code to make him my avatar, and I've tried both codes, I am told that the link entered is not valid. That said, Wee Tam is not very important in the order of things.

I see JJ has helped out, that's what friends are for
