Dave, Cant say Ive heard of it. Right today Im getting delivered a 2Tb hard drive for the desktop. I got a copy of acronis disk director 11 (saved hard ) Going to move windows 7 from the old hard drive to the new drive, if it works, backed up essential things just in case. : Never heard of it? Anyway, I've also got that Acronis thingy, got it from the same shop as you Nob. Haven't taken it out of the box yet, truth is I'm waiting to see how you get on with it, so be a sort and keep a record of what you do in case I ever need it! However, I haven't got a 'tower' type pc, only the 'all in one' and my lappies. Also two external hd's, one of which I keep back ups on. [/quote]

I have a copy of acronis true image and that will clone the windows volume to the new drive, If I had a big enough external storage I would use that to save an image to but the saved image is going to be 370Gb and I don't have anything as big, only a couple of 40Gbs in cases. so Im going to use disk director to move the windows volume to the new drive. If it works. If not it will be start over again.

I could have got a 3Tb for £20 more but apparently there are problems using all the space to run as a boot disk.

seems like everybody could at least eat more mussels to help, Pffft...if it don't come shrink wrapped and ready frozen, most of you pussies won't touch food. As for you girls, you'd need a guide to even find the kitchen! Anyway, stop trying to upset me, I'm still in mourning over 'Breaking Bad' ............ I may need methadone.

Disaster, bin that acronis. What happened? I assume you mean the disc director prog. Love em Dinky. Not at the moment. saved all the pics etc so no real problem, just annoying really. Dave, put the disk in BIOS saw it all good, opened acronis disk director, went to copy the volume to the new drive from the old drive the screen was full of hearts and what looked like egg timers, restarted the computer and no windows. Now the things all screwed up I'm thinking of putting 8 on it. I can install 7 on the big new drive but can't format the old windows drive ATM, having a few tots and giving it some thought.
