I read somewhere that this bunch of clowns were planning to raise the pension age to 71. They sure know how to piss the grey voters off.

I agree Dinks, but the older they make it will also hack off the youngsters who not only have longer to spend working until they can claim, they will also pay for those draining the system and it's no surprise that they are getting vocal about it from their perspective too. Social media is their weapon of choice and politicians of every flavour see social media as a belweather.

I see the junior doctors are wanting a 26% pay rise next year or they will strike. Who's next for a huge wage rise.

If I'd been held at 0% to 1% for some 15-20 years, I'd want a bloody rise too (I was actually but it was always jam tomorrow for me.) The so-called austerity measures always had a built in payback time- the tory ideology encompassed that all along. They just figured that they could wear folks down. It's a shame they couldn't have shoved this up the tories who instigated all this, but they were all too busy sacrificing their lives during the pandemic. Remember all the clapping, and straight thereafter the tories cynically said "jam sometime/ never" as if the plague and their contribution had never happened, and after so many had lost their lives too?
Just before the election I recall writing that I hoped the tories would get back in so they could impale themselves on their own swords.

A tax on home ownership? I thought they had that covered with the poll tax and its various guises? I heard around 0.4% of market value but that would probably save me some so I guess as usual it's on top. Or maybe it's fake news ...

I heard around 0.4% of market value but that would probably save me some so I guess as usual it's on top. Or maybe it's fake news ... 5% this year then 6% next year but its only 1% they will say, which works out to be roughly 19% rise. Tighten your belts even further and don't forget the candles, welcome back to the 1970s. Oh hows the energy saving, the £300 a year they promised? 10% rise instead. www.omnicalculator.com/math/percentage-difference
