Well who knew? Who'da thunk it? "Windows 11 is ready for your computer. Install now? Leave until later?" (or words broadly to that effect)
This is how mediocre the Redmond Sham is. For over a year, I have been lectured that my computer doesn't meet the requirements to upgrade. Same for the two laptops. It is a hardware deficiency issue related to the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) that is only V1.2 and needs to be V2.0. It's a miracle! They have overcome a hardware problem with a software hack. More likely, M$ realises that their grasp on the market relies upon universal take up, and wilfull exclusion of decent machines doesn't tick that box. I reckon this was the plan all along, you know- get all the muppets to buy new computers? Cynical? Moi?
I'm not convinced I can be confident that my eMail client will survive the upheaval, although since it doesn't actually install as evidenced by W10's refusal to let it bypass accreditation without a darkened screen OK, I think it might pass muster. Also, I have quite a number of firmware flashing utilities which have the potential to curl up and die. Moreover, W10 works even if I'm still not sold on it. XP did everything I wanted and was patched up to the gunnels.
I'll do the banking lappy though if it has also been bestowed with the sprinkle of magic. For the video watching box with Eudora, I elected to wait until later.

Shazbutt!
Just booted up and guess what? "This PC doesn't currently meet ..." yada yada.
Edit: That would have been an "interesting" migration ...
Can we have any confidence in those kernals?
Edit: 23 H2 (or whatever catchy name it's been given) has been stuck on "Downloading 00%" for about five hours now. I reckon I was wise to decline the W11 update given what's happened since yesterday (as in bu66er all). Neither of the lappies are eligible either. I have just been through enabling all the traditional required update services (where needed) and anything else that looks likely. Since it's after midnight (I'll bet Alan is shaking his head at my shenanigans) I've shut the recalcitrant b1tch down now. Same old same old. Nothing to see here. Move along now.
