In that article, they questioned why people would continue to use such an old and unsupported OS? Well first it doesn't get in your way so much as later offerings (which get worse and worse in an attempt to foil the scumbags) and secondly it was patched to the eyeballs which the later iterations will have an uphill struggle trying to emulate. XP had thousands of security patches. Considering that evolution tends to incorporate such sticking plaster remedies, one has to wonder how any company could expect to be taken seriously when continuously bringing such flakey products to market, but we are drawn inexorably onto the painted ponies going up and down.
Towards the end, I couldn't find a web browser that would both install and work properly on XP, with a 2.2GHz + 2Gb machine, so I'm curious to learn what these folks know that I didn't tumble. Ludite maybe, but I keep a couple of XP laptops here solely for maintaining older equipment. I have modern radio equipment too that the manufacturers apparently refuse to support Redmond's finest. One day folks will blink, rub their eyes and shout "Look at the king, look at the king, look at the king ..."
Religion is another example where no one questions anything. If you just keep asking "why?", eventually you will expose anything for what it really is. Windows 10 works well enough, but it sure gets in my way so it's a love hate relationship for me. If I could still use XP with the pre Chromium engine Opera, I damn well would.
