Not sure where to put this but I'm sure someone will see it and perhaps give me an answer ?? I have Gmail and also Mail for Windows 10 I get mp4 links sent me and I am able to open and view then in Windows 10 mail but NOT in Gmail. I have a friend who has the same problem with Gmail. If I click on the mp4 link in Gmail I get this .... If I click on ""Video player for Google drive "" I get this........... If I click on the ""open with"" link in Gmail I get the option to ""open link in Google Drive "" When I click on ""Log in and authorise"" I get the option to log in with Google and then Choose an account to continue to youfiles.herokuapp.com This is as far as I've gone for the time being ?? Does anyone know how I can configure Gmail to open these files ?? or if the link youfiles.herokuapp.com is safe ?? I would imagine it IS as it's recommended by Google but I'd like advice before I continue Please. Thanks in advance G.

Recently I've been able to click play in gMail and off it goes, but I used to have to click download first as Nob suggested. I wonder if it has anything to do with available bandwidth / conbection speed? What I do find bizarre is that the great god VLC won't play simple old MP4s, while the Android Photos app just gets on with it. Might be a permissions thing there. Life's too short ...

I wouldn't know G other than using Traceroute and pinging each node to find out. This is what I have against fibre- it's all very well paying through the neb handsomely for a rapier swift access point to your local provider's server, but the data avalanche inevitably grinds to a halt at the first (and any subsequent) bottleneck it encounters.
Microsoft servers and their ilk are seldom thus compromised so fibre's great for the never ending updates roundabout, but for run of the mill browsing it's often a different matter. I note that eBay's website often hangs, but it's servers related to bidding are happily lightning fast (as witness snipe bidding).

Hi Matt, You're right I do use Opera. I tried the first link - Gmail Mod I still couldn't play the files in Gmail so I uninstalled it. I can view the video files in Windows10 mail so I don't have a problem but I just wondered why I couldn't open them in Gmail that's all. Thanks for your time and help though it's much appreciated. G.

At this point in time then, I'm stuck unfortunately. Does it not give any more options under 'Suggested third-party apps' ?
I have a Gmail account myself. However, without an MP4 file at the moment there, I'm unable to test out the suggestion I gave you.
I have managed to get Chrome apps to work with Opera though in the past. Maybe the one I suggested wasn't very good.
Very strange. I'll have to try and further investigate. I'd like to be able to do that myself though (open MP4s in Gmail) if needs be.
Bye for now.

Sorry Matt, I meant that VLC for Android won't play MP4s whilst the Android Photos app plays them. That could be a permissions / access thing though. The PC version plays nearly everything I throw at it.
