I think we've all become card carrying members of the No Turning Back Group nob. Day-in-day-out there's always a whelter of people with some degree of indignation grasping at the oxygen of publicity.
Yesterday on Question Time (the wireless version) there was some (SNP?) Scottish woman proudly professing her lesbianism, all the while trying to justify both recognising the rights of Trans. individuals, yet holding back on allowing self determination of such because it allows dirty old (or young ...) men to frequent women's toilets (she called it "women only areas". I could see her point on the latter, but to me it was misdirected because it appears from her standpoint that once you've been certified by some quango or another, it suddenly becomes OK to go bog-trotting irrespective of what chromosomes one has floating around in one's pipes. The point is she was back on that all too familiar well worn rutted track of whingeing about Society's response to some minority or another, in this case it happened to be Trans folk.
I have not the slightest issue with those that are not happy in their shell, they are free to make their choices and it's not for me to dictate to them, but like all such vested interests, I really don't want to hear it pouring out of the loudspeaker at every turn. To me, apart from scale, a Trans. chop is no different from gross piercings, branding or even tattooing for that matter. For myself, it's like disaster charity appeals, you soon become immune to the constant begging. Like the little boy leaning out of the window crying out "Fire!" or the little girl.who cried "Wolf!".

My Mrs works in a senior school Steve, they have mixed toilet, IE gender neutral, I can only guess what goes on in those. How times have changed when all we could do was go round the back of the bike shed.  |

Somewhere here I have the spherical wooden internal door knob of the girl's toilet at my school. Best not to ask I suppose! I had an idea to fit it to my shed door but it wouldn't function for some reason. I'm not really sure where it is right now but that's far from unusual!
