Email problems

I hope I have selected the apposite thread for this issue
When I send an email to Eliz6beth-aka Liz-I get a "postmaster has failed to deliver"message.This happens in say 3 cases out of 10.The rogue address is one liz used some time back and has been deleted The correct address does
appear in the TO section of the email so I don't know how this happens.Emails from Glenda (Egg) to Liz suffer the same problem.I certainly have deleted the old address from my contact list some time back.
Liz is one of our founder members but doesn't post all that often as she has significant medical concerns.
Any help would be appreciated

If it's intermittent as you say Pete, it could be due to an incorrectly configured password authentication method that still works sometimes but not at others, but I would suspect that it's likely to be a mail server issue. Bottom line- if it works sometimes, something's not quite right causing the intermittent service. Just a thought- if you still have a pop3 configuration instead of iMap, that could be a problem with a mail server as would running pop3 configuration on one device and iMap on another, but for me that's more like a mail receiving scenario than a failed sending issue. I have endured a similar shabby response for decades now from the TalkTalk appropriation of the Pipex eMail service.

I have this issue with EVERY email I send to Liz.
It sends to the email address that she uses now but also tries to send to the old addy, resulting in the bounce back.

I had a similar problem myself when Freeserve closed their email service and I had to change to Gmail.
It took me a bit of time to "suss" it out.
My old Freeserve addy was still registered with Outlook Express email service (which changed to "Outlook" ) that I ditched in favour of Gmail, and as soon as I physically deleted Outlook email service the problem stopped.
Probably the same thing applies with the old Addy that Liz once used and would mean her looking where the mail addy is stored and deleting it ??
I don't consider it to be such a huge problem that I feel the need to contact her about it.

Well I am sending her attachments in the main so finding them again to resend can be a real pain.I do wonder if she gets my emails anyway as the correct address still appears in the TO box.
Maybe a change to gmail as you did might be the answer.

I may be wrong here I've never actually contacted Liz to ask But............

I PRESUME that when I send her an email it GOES to her proper email addy as well as ATTEMPTING to send to the rogue address.

The rogue one is then bounced back and I just delete it.

I KNOW that she receives at least SOME of your emails because after you've sent them to her she often sends them on to me.

I'll have to ask her if she gets them and mine. I'll let you know.

Well I emailed Liz and as expected she IS getting our emails.

Here's a part of her reply to me.........

I cannot get rid of that old address but I am getting your emails.

Fed up with being in isolation and a few weeks to go yet. Sent away for some face masks and they arrived this morning. I will feel a fool wearing one but safety first and my consultant said I was at a greater risk from the virus than my cancer, so needs must.

The offending email ends with .fsnet.co.uk
As I said Pierre, when you get the bounced emails Just delete them. No need to look for and resend as Liz has received them

Okay G.I'll just forget about it.The only annoying thing is that the "postmaster's" script contains hundreds of numbers and uses about a page of comments.I sure it is not waste as we know it- as it is absorbed in the ethernet.

I have never used a contacts list on Windoze, preferring to rely upon previous successful sends being automatically suggested. If the problem has any root there then I wouldn't know how to stop it but I guess google could once more be your friend.

Yep just seen it soz, If he reads the text it will tell him where the mail is trying to go to then we can see the offending address. What size attachment are you sending Pete?
