I stick with the Android app and never see an ad on The Squatters Pete. Outside links are a different matter though. OTOH, the paid for Android app hasn't been supported by the Proboards outfit since Android 6 (maybe Android 5 was the last properly working version?) This means that it is frustratingly flakey most of the time but I tolerate its many foibles to be free of the adverts.
That just looks like a Linux distro on a USB stick? They have been going around for years. It says that you can recover long lost music and pictures on old PCs? That suggests that it doesn't just wipe the disk and install- it runs from a USB port. Such really old PCs invariably had first (or at best second) generation USB ports and any operating system would struggle over that bandwidth. Incidentally, you can put Windows on a stick if you want to. Microsoft will let you download a Windows 10 .iso file to do it. Dave is the man with hands-on Linux experience. My few forays have been abandoned when networking threw up too many head scratching gotchas!
Since I never see any ads on here I'm unaware, I apologise to all if posted links carry an advert payload. I'd be a bit more circumspect if that's the case.

Thank you.I am a sucker I accept, but in the past I have come across some good tips from these ads.My main interest in this one was in regard to a lady in our bridge club who is in"lockeddown" and has a very out of date laptop.I thought this might be an elixir for her as it seemed so easy to install for someone who has zero PC knowhow.

Pierre:
I don't know whether you have run AdwCleaner or not (only a suggestion anyway) ?
There may possibly be something awry, but you could always ask the good folks at BleepingComputer and see what they think.
Also, what browser do you use ? Do you use an Ad blocker ?
I tend to use Opera browser at the moment, but I also use Opera Ad Blocker (naturally I allow ads for this website though).

Thanks Mr Matt.I'm not duly unhappy with adverts.Years ago I used to block them but as I said I've found some useful. Nob.I would not recommend to the lady that has the ancient laptop that she proceeds. Not after what has been written here.It was only a thought on my part. Thank you to all who have replied.Over and out !
