Hi mrmatt, do you recall what I said to you about the Avast group of companies a while ago, that group being Avast, AVG and Piriform the publishers of the likes of CCleaner. CCleaner was exposed some time ago as doing something similar, that they eventually removed. So everyone just be aware of what,s going with software from this group of companies.

I do remember your advice, and I took it. I didn't bother going with Avast.
Ccleaner I use, but only the free version.

So what do members advise using instead after getting rid of Avast - AVG - Piriform Well, I'm told that Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall provide adequate protection, so that's what I use. Along with Malwarebytes (free) as an on-demand scanner. Also AdwCleaner.

I use the fullversion of bitdefender, and my subscription allows me to install it on up to 5 computers. I also have the full version of Malwarebytes that runs a daily scan, today it quarantined 80 instances of malware that were hidden in a legitimate program that I installed last night before shutting the computer down for the day.
