OK I'm deviating from the thread a little but ... Last night we went to see The Tedeschi Trucks Band at Wembley Arena. We had seats in the front row of the stalls. This was the sixth time that I've seen the band. On this perennial crowd favourite from last night's gig written by one of the backing singers, Mike Mattison, Derek is playing slide in open E tuning with no plectrum or finger picks. Derek's uncle was the recently deceased Butch Trucks who was one of the two drummers in The Allman Brothers Band. Barely into his twenties and by invitation, Derek did an 18 month world tour with Eric Clapton. youtu.be/YONoyyiB_TEYou can see Eric at the side of the stage in the following clip from one of his Crossroads extravaganzas. I often wonder whether they warned Eric they were going to cover that song. Mike Mattison gets more stage time in that one. He used to be the singer in The Derek Trucks Band until Susan "joined". youtu.be/jiwktkw_rqEThere's some fantastic stuff from TTB. Here's a great clip from when we saw them at The O2 a few years ago. Susan's scream always gets me. youtu.be/dtEYwYU58CQLast night, the evening was nearly wrecked by some nobhead continental moron that thought it was acceptable to come and stand in front of our (expensive) seats. Human kind takes on many forms but that bottom feeder of unknown extraction was a türd. Actually, that's disingenuous to turds. Our "ample" friend Pete who we went with last night stood up in fury and loomed over him threateningly, and even I gave him two shots of both barrels from the safe zone the other side of Pete, but he feigned the old "no comprendo signor". We couldn't stop him from standing on our seats and still somehow dancing once we'd stood up ourselves. We're still on a high from last night though! e&oe ...

Good one Mike! And they have about as much idea of the physical extent of 78.76" as the majority of plebs I've encountered. They've opened up Windsor Great Park again so avoiding joggers has suddenly become a great deal easier.
Sleepy D. is missed and I was a little disappointed to see all his posts go. The majority of us make a ripple at best rather than any figurative splash so such expurgation is a shame, but I fully understand.

I hope you're-a-pickin 'n' a-strummin' somewhere Dave. As guit-fiddlers get older, they start to get a handle on Jazz and become more in touch with their acoustic guitar side ... Time was when I used to play along to this and get that old buzz going on. Although I could still give it a fair crack of the whip, I would rapidly run out of steam and it would be embarrassing. Well we're all getting there! How to entertain with a Stratocaster then; youtu.be/GqNYcaqQypYMañana OK! e&oe ...

Here's hoping that Dave is having a beer and a strum somewhere. He would approve of this alternative to Christmas songs, but it's a bit out there even for me. Joseph Spence (no doubt with his ever present pipe?) youtu.be/r_jRAJZ9_y0 でつ e&oe ...
