www.gov.uk/the-warm-home-discount-schemeIf you qualify, register for it now, because it's allocated on a first come first served basis. You get £140 and you can request it to be applied to your Gas instead of electricity. G.

Like many pensioners,I have a small works pension which lifts me out of Pension Credit. I would be better off financially without the pension,as Pension Credit gives access to a whole raft of other benefits, but that's how it is.

Before I was state pension age I was in receipt of pension credit, because I had a private pension that was set against my credit, in the end I was awarded about £5 per week. Because of the other benefits I stuck with it, but, I was chased by the DWP or as it is better known in this house as the department of wankers and persecution for being a criminal. Needless to say THEY LOST on all occasions. I can only conclude that it was an attempt at box ticking to fill in the targets set by government.

I neglected to mention in my previous post that attempting to claim ANY benefit is such a difficult procedure that many deserving people give up,and manage without.I'm sure that the application process is geared to achieve this result. As to the practice of farming out the medical reviews of PIP,the problems that this has caused to genuinely disabled people is well known.

Dinks, you've given me an idea- I wasn't aware of that handout. Every sheckel counts from now on. Since I'm not in a day to day grind any more, then I should have time to persue that benefit. I've had rock-all out of the system I have *so willingly* contributed to. (I had to salute for two months rock and roll back in the early eighties...)

If you ring your energy suppliers and ask them, they'll tell you whether you'll get the payment or not. They ask you what your income is and fill in the relevant form. At the end, if you qualify they submit your claim for you.
