Whoa Guys, heads-up!
Your friend and mine, photobucket (I refrain from dignifying it/them with a large case initial as should befit a proper noun) has summarily removed all free account hosted image links. The "customer" can choose to pay $399 annually to have these these links restored. This makes the current cancer of ransomeware attacks look like a bargain at $300 to get all your data back... I would advocate downloading any images you have on photobucket onto your current chosen hardware platform while you still can (always provided that you can withstand the adverts assault that is!) I accept that this could be fake news and I should really check it out first, but some part of me really wants to believe it anyway.

No mention of it on the site, the only thing I see is for a plus account the standard free one remains the same. As Don would say Fake news or project fear to some. Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting

I checked today and a string of nearly 20 pictures of strung musical instruments (mainly guitars) that I posted using photobucket several years ago on another Proboards forum is still visible. Not sure what's going on, but it does seem that the bottom's fallen out of the free hosting market. First image shack, now this? Too many advertisement blockers?

I wouldn't think anyone actually wants a hosting account. It is possible to upload images to Proboards, although I cannot see any way to do that in the Proboards app, so I reluctantly use remote hosting. This makes decorating a happy birthday thread with eye candy particularly irksome. The fact is that if we use the Proboards hosting facility with increasing regularity, sooner or later Proboards will be demanding bunce to continue. Anyone that has looked into it will confirm that moving to another forum hosting service means saying goodbye to what we have here because you cannot export the Squatters' content. Even if you set up a crawler, Proboards will recognise it and issue a yellow card. If you upload images and content to Proboards then consider that there is no free lunch.

They got me. *What is 3rd Party Hosting? Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, a blog, etc. is definitively 3rd party hosting.

All my Photobucket pictures, avatars, & icons, that I wanted to save I moved them to my desktop then put them in a folder and then deleted all the others on Photobucket and closed my account with Photobucket.
