So, a friend of a friend tells me that shortly users of this "I" thingy (whatever it is) will need to register to use it. This friend's friend also reckons that an email addy, a postcode and a password will be required before using it. He/she reckons that the beeb is doing this to enable them to tailor programs to the needs of individual users. Apparently, it's deffo absolutely sincerely not a ruse to catch/scare some rascally folk who possibly use this Iplayer wotsit without having first purchased a tv license.....No Sir...deffo not! However...some cynical folks on the interweb have been suggesting that yer beeb possibly could use this registration thingy to match email addresses to post codes in order to find out who is using this gizmo without a license. Well..... my friend's friend has got only ONE email account and that account is also obviously the one that is known to his/her internet provider..... Plus of course, my friend's friend has registered his/her correct post code! Well, good luck with that sez I!

Haven't had a tele since January 1988 (after the October '87 storm wiped out the roof top aerial) but we only had a 14" B&W Sony portable anyway. (That's still up in the loft actually.)
We used to watch download (ie; not streamed live) BBC "content", but since the change last year we decided they could stuff it and have returned to previous status, as in only watching the odd YouTube stuff now. Don't miss it at all. Looked at Kodi and figured it was still ultimately traceable.
Can't be doing with the whole sorry shooting match. Tele that is- not The Beeb per-se.

I did hear last week that the BBC are tightening up on these players.

That's what the whole push towards digital is all about. First you can cram more channels into given bandwidth, but more importantly you can encrypt content and obviously then you can charge for it.

I think Sky should upgrade people to Sky Q for free.
