After downloading AVG, that was one of the first things I did. AND I tried it just to satisfy myself that it worked. I can't say I'm overly impressed by what I've found so far it's SO different to my beloved XP, but even I have to move with the times sometime. I'm "work in progress" and I think it may be a while before I'm comfortable, but I'm learning slowly. VERY SLOWLY !!! Should I need advice I certainly know where to ask Take care G. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Glenda Just have patience and you'll crack it. You know what it's like with new things they need the gentle touch.

Hi Geoff & John, I'm slowly getting there. The trouble is I just can't FIND things as easily as I can with XP. With XP all I have to do is click "start" and everything's there for me to click on and look. There isn't even a "START" tab on the taskbar in W10 so I have to search. Sigh, The best thing is that, at least I still have XP on my desktop so, whilst I'm learning W10, I can still do my other stuff quickly on another computer.
Happy days.

G, The start tab is the little windows image bottom left. Left or right click gives different menus.

Thanks for that nob, I know that -
BUT, in XP right at the bottom left of my screen I have a big green "START" button
When I click on it I'm give various options to click on such as My Documents, My Computer, Control panel, Printers & faxes, Help & support and many more. at the bottom of that page I have another button with the option to go to "All programmes", so I just click on it and find whatever I want from the huge list there. There's nothing like that in W10, so if you want something, or should I say if I want something, I have to search allover the place to find it. That's because I don't know what information is in what folder, if that makes sense. I'm learning all the time so that's a good thing, my brain isn't stagnating (I don't think)

Greetings Egg, As they say ….. No Pain, No Gain. Take your time and enjoy the trip. The more you learn, the more you’ll want to. Experiment with right-clicking on various items and you’ll find various menus. Spend a bit of time tweaking your settings … per Start >> Settings. Especially, open the Privacy option and adjust your settings. To minimise Microsoft’s obsession with harvesting personal details, surfing habits, etc. I have virtually toggled all options to Off. You can tweak your desktop to your own preferences. Mrs Spit prefers the old style desktop with icons, so adjusted it as you can see below. She can use the Task View icon on her taskbar to toggle between an icon desktop to one with tiles. You will want to remove most of the default tiles and add your own. Right-click then Unpin from Start. You can do the same with the default shortcuts on your taskbar. I have now made the lightning-fast Edge browser my default browser. With a little effort you can tweak it to what you prefer. Here is a shot of Edge Favourites … it slides out from the right side. You can group similar items within a created folder. It shows the “Light" option … you may prefer “Dark”. As I said ….. No Pain, No Gain. Orrabest, Cameron
