I really need some help with this please, Actroll, are you about? or indeed anyone else that knows anything about sim only deals.....the story is this:-
A few months ago, I replaced my EE sim only deal with a Life Mobile sim only deal because I get 1500 mins , unlimited texts and 1gb of data. Soon after life issued the sim, before I could do much with it, I dropped my sony experia phone and broke it, and replaced it with a Lenovo A816 phone (second hand shop).
I like everything about the phone, but can only connect to the internet using my home wifi, family wifi and local hotspots in town, the data part of it appears not to be working. I informed Life Mobile and they have issued me with a new SIM.
The result is no difference. What am I to think. Is Weymouth a poor reception area or have I not done something to my phone?, by that, how do I know if it is set right? should I either check or uncheck something. Being a bit dumb, I would have expected a connection anywhere?. The phone recognises hot spots and it also recognises the wifi code when in family members houses.
Ideally you will tell me I need to do something. What I don't want is to buy another phone and find it is the area. I don't have another phone to try with sim.

Ok, try this it's how it works on my Xperia phone. Settings > Wireless & Networks > click Mobile networks > Mobile data traffic > click 'allow data traffic via mobile network Fixed (hopefully)

Two things, I've spoken to Life Mobile and they asure me the settings were changed automatically and it is the age of the phone. I should consider replacing it (which I was prepared to do), they said go for a second hand one but state it must be smart and there should be no trouble. My wife says "how much is a new one? ?" told her there is a considerable range, but at least she is of the opinion a new one. All that's needed now is to decide which and ensure it is unlocked.

Best beloved has an older Moto G 4G. It's a solid 'phone and near on unbeatable at the price point. As a bonus, Motorola learned their lesson regarding bundled shovelware and their flavour of Android is pretty close to vanilla Google.

I made a decision, bought a new phone, iphone 5, so I've sat here this morning, with that pinging away, my old out-going Lenovo and ipad pinging away, not to mention the laptop. bells bells bells!.
