Did I see and act of God?. If a tree were to fall and kill or injure someone, I'm sure we would read that it was an “act of god” and nothing or no-one could have foreseen it.
So when I sat on a bus yesterday, a sunny and warm afternoon, waiting for drivers to change at the Weymouth Depot, like everyone else, I simply gazed patiently out of the window. From where I sat, I had a clear view of all of the properties when suddenly a huge lump of concrete lintel fell from above the three story window with an almighty thud onto the pavement beneath.
Were anyone walking along that public footpath at that precise moment I dread to think.
Since it happened,my mind has been in overdrive thinking what if, pram?child ?, elderly?,you?,me? but thankfully it was no-one. If today someone was mourning a loss, no doubt in the fullness of time a report would simply say “it couldn't been foreseen, it was an Act of God”.
Oh yes, I did notify the emergency services and the area was cordoned off.
and this is the letter sent to our local paper. What's the betting they contact me for a story, but they won't get anything.

The police do not use the word "accident" so I imagine that for them there is no such thing as an "act of god". I won't get into that sorry mess here but "act of god" is an insurers little bit of wiggle room. It's obscene, it's fraudulent and it should be challenged.

Could that be a warning from above Colin telling you that you need to be paying more attention while you are out and about & while you are dosing in you deckchair at the seafront cafe.

I'll tell you what JAl, when I was waiting for my wife in town, I normally stand close to shop fronts, to make sure seagulls don't sh*t on me, but today I was wondering about ruddy concrete , so reluctantly went inside.
