Do you keep your W10 Media Creation Tool up-to-date?
Have you even created the MCT?
Anyone using Windows 10 might find this helpful … especially if you prefer to clean install the latest W10 version instead of loading your latest Image backup in the event of a HDD failure or corrupt unfixable system. I hope it’s OK to post such links here.

Mmm - I think you're being a tad harsh for blaming your own error on Microsoft.
Don't you realise what a boon it will be if Microsoft continues its practice of upgrading its Media Creation Tool every time it introduces a major upgrade ... such as the pending two biggies next year?
Consider this scenario ... You bought a new W7 computer five years ago.
You may have been supplied with an operating system disk, but more likely supplied with a dedicated restore partition.
Your machine is now full of accumulated stuff and running slow, so you decide to do a clean install of W7.
Your disk (or restore partition) may take you back in time to W7 containing a pile of pre-loaded unwanted software that you will have to remove.
Then you may possibly have to install five years of accumulated Windows Updates including a Service Pack … and all your programs again.
Yes your machine may be running fast again ... but think of all the daunting tasks awaiting.
I'm hoping that MS continues its present practice of upgrading its MCT at least into next year and until after the pending biggies.
This is not crazy ... I see it as a big plus having access to an ongoing updated operating system.
