Because I didn't much like the basic colour of the folder icons in Mint 17 Nautilus (file browser) .....which are an insipid green, I looked for a way to change them. On my Mint 14 netbook, I've changed them to a nice deep blue which comes with one of the preinstalled themes, it doesn't seem to be available on v17. Anyway, here's what I did! First, navigate to the folder that you want to change. Right click, then ‘properties’ ... Left click the folder icon, then in the left pane, navigate from ‘File System’ as below. 1/ Computer 2/ File System 3/ User 4/ Share 5/ Icons 6/ Mate 7/ 256 x 256 (or preferred) 8/ Places Choose the folder icon that you like. My test folder is now a deep rich orange.

That's strange, adding emblems to folders in the 'Mate' editions, has been possible at least since v14, 'cos I have them on my Mint 14 netbook. I've put them on this Mate v17 lappy too!

As you can see from this snapshot of my 'Home' folder in my Mint 14 netbook, I've already put emblems some of my folders. I've done the same on the Mint 17 lappy.
