In my opinion CA had about the right mix of serious questions and answers but in a light way (until it was ruined by trolls and no moderation).

The alternative by the same group, Web User, seems neither here nor there with over generalised sections and none of them in any way serious for those looking for computer help.

Does anyone know of a serious forum that is both well moderated and offers a useful service, with sections broken into perhaps hardware, software, Windows, Mac, Linux, ?

Yahoo Answers used to be useful until it went international and allowed kids on there who post questions in txt speak.

Other than The Squatters that is well moderated and has various sections that you require, there is 2 below, but being unbiased myself you'll find that The Squatters is far the best.

but i get your drift about generalisation, certainly for linux related. on the secrets forum, linux related looks like its called the, non windows forum, but the whole site is rich in info

maybe more specific section for your needs beckons on the squatters, as said

for a real metropolis, there is always digitalspy
