HI Gang
Windows Vista with IE9
IE9 stopped working so I decided to delete the Icons in the Start - All programs section and in the notification area, then I downloaded IE9 but it decided to stop loading as it said I still had a newer version still installed on the Laptop, but the problem is were abouts would it be still on the laptop. It's not showing in the Control Panel or in the Add & Remove Panel or on CCleaner. There is a Folder in C drive with IE things in it but it says if I remove the Folder some programs will fail to work and also I need permission to remove the Folder
Thanks
jj

I may be wrong but I've always understood from the old posts at CA that IE is part and parcel of Windows and cannot be deleted. All you can do is delete the start up links for it which is what you've done. If you can still access the internet on it try downloading and instaling an older version of IE from here, www.oldversion.com/windows/internet-explorer/

Hi Mr
I tried to download IE8 from the Link you gave.
But it says, set up can't continue as another version of IE is still on the computer.
So where do I find the rest of version IE9 thats still on the Computer.
At present I'm still using Firefox.
Thanks

Have you updated IE at anytime from 8 to 9, click the start button the run Updates, if it shows on the update list delete it and it should roll back to 8. Or you could try resetting IE9. support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

Hi Nob
Looking at the Updates there is one for IE9 yesterday
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Vista (KB2977629)
Installation date: 10/09/2014 17:00
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Important
A security issue has been identified in a Microsoft software product that could affect your system. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft. For a complete listing of the issues that are included in this update, see the associated Microsoft Knowledge Base article. After you install this update, you may have to restart your system.
It was installed and the system restarted yesterday, that's when the problem started
I been to the Windows update and found the update but how do you delete the update from there.
Thanks

No you don't want view update history you need to be on installed updates. the box you have open look at the top I cant remember vista, but you want installed not the history of them.
Start button in the run box type updates, you can see it there view installed updates, or go through control panel. Programs, programs and features, view installed updates.
It might be easier to do a system restore to when all was good.

The following instructions apply to both Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
Click the Start button , type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.
Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.
Click one of the following:
Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9 and restore the previous version of Internet Explorer).
Restart later

Just one quickie
The IE9 update you said to uninstall has arrived back as a new update.I have hidden it at present, but do you think that was the cause of the problem or should I re-install it
Thanks
