When we go shopping to Asda there's a man who goes shopping with his wife, he looked a fair size because I have a mate who I used to work with and still see who is 6`8" and he was bigger than him so I went up to him and asked him politely how tall he was and he said he was just over 7`0" and now we see him quite regularly in there.

Imperial units are way better for workmen. There is less chance to get the wrong side when measuring say with the tape upside down because the milimetres are so small. EG. 1829mm is 6 feet, but occasionally with the tape upside down I'd hit 1819 by mistake. Doesn't happen with inches for me. On the other hand, if you are an engineer, it would be idiotic to persevere with imperial units and a perusal of dimensional analysis in equations proves that beyond any doubt in a heartbeat. There have been a fair few howlers over the years due to the half hearted use of empirical correction factors when number crunching in imperial, a rooskie yankie fcuk up in space springs to mind. The only exception that I can think of to the foregoing is viscosity which is an inexact science at best! Otherwise, in the S.I. system, all units are related directly to each other and can be boiled down to just length, mass and time. For you and I with a hammer and tape though, it's got to be inches and feet every time.

...."He has a wife you know, you know what she's called?....Incontinentia... Incontinentia Buttock!..."
According to Milligan, it was his favourite piece of recorded comedy and who would argue with that?
