Jal, I updated the klite codec and I now seem to have got a 321 media player and a tweak tool, which I did not expect, and it looks like I can't get rid of them without uninstalling the complete codec. is this correct. cheers

Actually, the media player is very good.

If you installed a genuine version there is a check box for EVERY item that K-Lite can install if you use the custom install option which everyone should do every time they install a program. The Media Player installed from K-Lite is "Media Player Classic" and is a very good player indeed so if it installed any other player you have installed a hacked version. Always download K-Lite from the mirrors at codecguide.com/Hope this helps to clarify the issue.

Thank you Geoff I have put that on, but would it have stopped the stuff coming in with codec update, as I don't remember getting the option. I may uninstall the Klite and reload it to see what happens. cheers

Thank you Alan, you were obviously posting as I was typing. I downloaded the k.lite update from the link here, and It is now coming back to me that there was a mountain of stuff which I did not understand, so I probably just said yes to everything, so it was my own fault I guess. I am perfectly happy with wmp and vlc for my music needs, I can make my own CD's and transfer to my MP4. I think i will do as I suggested and re-instal but maybe this time take a closer look. Thank you I think I will also adopt your avatar

Perhaps I should have explained, the 321 media player and Media Player classic are one and the same, I think that '321' is the old name.
I myself use Media player Classic Home Cinema, also VLC, both are excellent!

You need to use the custom install option and untick Media Player. You can then choose to associate the codecs with a specific media player.
