I (like you) have an IP address assigned to my laptop at my house. I also own a tablet, would that have the same IP address?
PS, Have googled on each and discovered my IP is the same on both. Sorry to waste your time.

I (like you) have an IP address assigned to my laptop at my house. Pftttt...I can assure you that I most definitely do not have an IP address assigned to your laptop. I don't know what you are trying to suggest young man, but I'll have you know that I'm often called 'Honest Ratty' in these parts. Harrumph ..

Sorry to waste your time. Your Router will have the IP address, your connected devices will have the address assigned by DHCP.

Your Router will have the IP address, your connected devices will have the address assigned by DHCP. When I click whatismyipaddress.com/ I get my address shown on a map 50 odd miles away from where I actually live. I can find no link address to my ISP to tell them the problem. Can anyone help?

Shows me in Peterborough. Its accurate then. When I was with orange, it showed mine as somewhere in the lake district. I've always assumed that the IP addy was issued by your provider's server, wherever it is!

You'll have two IP addresses, the WAN IP (Wide Area Network) and the LAN IP (Local Area Network).
The WAN IP address is assigned to your router by your ISP for connection to the internet. The LAN IP address is assigned by your router to each device connected to it.
When you got to sites like WhatismyIP it will only give you the WAN IP address.
If you want to discover the LAN IP given to a device then you can look at the attached devices list in your router's config pages, Or from Windows using the Command Prompt command ipconfig /all

Command prompt is Start>Run or have I got that wrong? I even copied and pasted ipconfig /all from your post to get the spaces right.
