Hi Roger It said the other night on TV that it was a load of nonsense and a waste of money we spend on trying to keep our carbon footprint under control, because all the carbon footprints of everybody in the world from when it began until the present time doesn't amount to one Volcanic eruption, and how many of them over the years have we had. Just one simple question JJ, did Henry VIII lie awake nights worrying about carbon footprints? Did Queen Victoria lie awake nights worrying about carbon footprints? No they didn't and the world survived so why are we falling for all this claptrap that suddenly the world, 2000 odd years old, is on it's last rights. Is it because there are now smarter peeps than there were 1000 years ago telling us we are doomed. Thank God that is a load of sh*t because according to our present sooth sayers, we should all be on our knees by our beds looking for the piss pot. Thanks Peter I take it by your reply you are agreeing with my post jj

"World warming is a cyclical event"Yes I agree, but this time around the cycle is exacerbated by mankind. Oh the arrogance of our species, to think that this spinning old rock which has been around for summat like 5 billion years, is gonna get proper poorly 'cos of us, beggars belief! This old planet will still be here long after we have gone. Errrrr..imo Yes, I agree with that as well Dave. However mankind might be around for considerably longer if they took the trouble to look after the planet (and it's atmosphere) a lot more carefully. But hey it's buggerall to do wi' us pal, like you say - we'll be long gone. Bbbbut what about the poor sods that come after us

This thread has gone from vacuum cleaners to the demise of humanity in a few posts. There must be some clever quotation someone can make now about this. 'Dust to Dust'

It's the atmosphere that's at risk, not the rock . We could just jump ship to the moon because there's no atmosphere there for us to bugger up. (D'oh!) The close-in rocky lumps will be here until the sun swallows them up whole, but as ratae says- we'll all be long gone by then. Some will be sitting pretty with 72 virgins each though... (you couldn't make it up could you!) e&oe According to the doom merchants, we are poisoning the oceans as well. Personally, I blame the dolphins for pooing in it! As for those virgins, I just hope they all look like Susan Boyle, it'll serve the bastards right!

not far off, i reckon. I was visiting a dolphinarium and while looking through the glass, when a dolphin came close and dumped one in front of one of my grandkids. it flicked its tail and swam off with that weird grin on its face. i had to explain it was not a fish .. and no the dolphin didnt kill it! then off to mcdonalds.

One thing is that this EU Vacuum cleaner ruling will wipe the smirk off James "I'll never transfer manufacturing off-shore" Dyson's physog. No forget that, the market is a tad larger than the EEC, and he still has the ball barrow to fall back on.

Not Dysons fault he went to another country the Council in Wales wouldn't let him expand so he thought bollox and shipped the whole lot aboard. Probably a Tory council as well,

The Welsh are (or used to be) very receptive towards inward investment in the form of financial incentives taking one form or another. The company where I work has a satellite factory in South Wales. Probably the main reason why we chose that site was because of the financial incentives that the Welsh Assembly were handing out (not to mention the ready supply of redundant skilled labour from a previous abandoned initiative.) If that financial incentive has dried up, then it wouldn't surprise me at all if Mr. Dyson decided to "Welch" on his "word" Of course that's all speculation on my part (or is it?) Nonetheless, I find it difficult to contemplate replacing my aging (and failing) "hoover" with another Dyson because of that move to foreign climes. I readily concede that the majority don't GAF about this or any of the employees that may have been affected. They just want something that sucks, and their opinion is just as valid as mine.
