Hi Folks This is my problem and hope you can help me please, I want to send a friend an e-mail with a picture I hope to take with my web-cam, this is were the problem lies. I can only make the camera work in Skype so this is no good to me. What programme can I use to take this picture so that I can send as an e-mail please. using Windows 7. Thanks a lot Wireman (mike).

Mike did you get any software with the webcam or are we talking about a built in one in a laptop?

Hi Nob no the system has let me down .All I know is it is a Microsoft camera with a lead and usb plug Mike

Mike you should have got a disk but have a look in devices and printers, start button then devices and printers, can you see the camera there, if so double click it and see what opens. Also see if you can find software here. www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/downloads

As Nob said, isn't there an installed software application associated with the webcam? ( "Lifecam" or similar?) It should be in the programs listing. Obviously if there is no driver, there's your problem, but it should have a driver otherwise Skype couldn't use it. I reckon someone has just plugged in the camera and Windows has recognised it's own company's hardware and installed the driver from its own database. As Nob said, you pretty much need the application. This should be available as a download from the Redmond website. I don't personally reckon too much of still images made with a webcam.

Sorry for the delay in answering been away for a couple of days. had a look in pc world and found a new one so cheep I got it so problem solved. still have not found the old disk Nob. Thanks to all for the advice Mike
