Hi Gang I remember in my early schooldays thinking Charlie Drake was the funniest man there had ever been, I hadn't heard anything from him or about him for decades but today Glenda rekindled my memories of him and I'm thinking Charlie Drake was still the funniest man there had ever been. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iovn33lMDtsDon't watch this U.Tube video with your grand children or grand parents.

Strange thing is humour, as Smudger sez, Charlie Drake was a huge star back in the days. Me?.... I thought that he was about as funny as toothache, on the other hand,I find old Smudger hilarious.

Much of that subjective quality is defined by imagery and timing, especially the later. Charlie had timing down to a tee, but so did Cooper, and in *most* of what I can remember, Tommy didn't resort to swearing to get a laff. Now Connolly can swear and has me in stitches. What a great gig to get eh? ride around the American West getting off your Harley and "F"ing away. I'll have some of that! There are many many more comedic moments about- think of Michael Palin's "Bigus Dickus" sketch where he was given carte-blanche to add-lib live on a film scene. Now that's comedic genius... Charlie Drake made me laugh when I viewed that sketch, but apart from his exquisite timing, I can't see much else. Life's a broad church and Smudge is equally entitled to his point of view which may be tainted by the rose coloured spectacles of age. Take time out to view the"Fresh Fruit Song" by Milligan and see how carefully crafted (right down to the breast plate, training shoes, gut clutching and disparaging glances) that is. Yep, I'm pissed!, under the vine shaded pergola...Life's good n'est ce pas? All welcome, please bring bottle 'n' bird! e&oe

Ain't a clue what Duvel is Joe but if it works then go for it. You want the outside lights setting up for the ambient light. They shouldn't be on. But if your pissed it don't matter. Looking at Drake you wouldn't think he was a womanizer.

It's Belgian beer. The Belgians brew some corkers. Blue label Chimay and Kasteel etc amongst them, but I reckon Kwak's my favourite.
I'm now well off topic (and it's my fault too.)
That was taken last year before a plumber and a builder ripped out the wiring to make way for some new boiler that I cannot figure out how to control (and I have an A class "ham" radio licence!) The security light wiring is on an inevitable "to do" list. The trouble is cider and Kwak are higher up the list- you know how it is!
At least I'm no longer squiffy!

Well I got a call from Greebo before we went to the pub, he said that G had dropped him off some scotch, Glenlivet, Ardmore and Balvenie (sic) at £20 a pop (litre)...and did I want one! (daft question) As I have never tried the Ardmore or Balvenie, I've taken a bottle of the Glenlivet off his hands.
