If your ping is zero, that means it has timed out on the request(s), probably due to a firewall but could be because the machine is simply getting no handshake from the pinged IP number. Do you know what resource you are pinging? Maybe the site is down. Try pinging your router- open a terminal window or command prompt and run the ping command from there. That should give you a result but it will still be a finite time lapse, not zero.
