Thank you once again for all your further comments, and please accept my apologies for my late reply....I have been stressed out and exhausted for the last few days and could not contemplate doing very much. I am afraid that much of the technical stuff in the several posts above is way over my head and beyond my understanding, so cannot make any sensible responses. What I can say is that if anyone is interested in pursuing the discussion then the mother board in the old machine is AsrockALiveNF6G-vista with an AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 4200+ 2,37 GHz processor with 2Gb of ddr2 RAM. That set up had the capability of carrying Sata or Ide connectors...mine is all IDE. I may have a look at that box again sometime, but in the meantime am fiddling around with this new machine. I quite like this Win7..  Thanks again for all the interest shown above. |
