Don't know if anyone is interested but there changing the way we get our road tax from October
From 1 October 2014, the paper tax disc will no longer need to be displayed on a vehicle windscreen.
To drive or keep a vehicle on the road you will still need to get vehicle tax and DVLA will still send you a renewal reminder when your vehicle tax is due to expire. This applies to all types of vehicles including those that are exempt from payment of vehicle tax.
Buying a vehicle
From 1 October, when you buy a vehicle, the vehicle tax will no longer be transferred with the vehicle. You will need to get new vehicle tax before you can use the vehicle.
You can tax the vehicle using the New Keeper Supplement (V5C/2) part of the vehicle registration certificate (V5C) online or by phone - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Alternatively, you may wish to visit a Post Office® branch.
Selling a vehicle
If you sell a vehicle after 1 October and you have notified DVLA, you will automatically get a refund for any full calendar months left on the vehicle tax.
Vehicle tax refunds
You will no longer need to make a separate application for a refund of vehicle tax. DVLA will automatically issue a refund when a notification is received from the person named on DVLA vehicle register that the: •vehicle has been sold or transferred •vehicle has been scrapped at an Automated Treatment Facility •vehicle has been exported •vehicle has been stolen •vehicle has been removed from the road and the person on the vehicle register has made a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) •person on the vehicle register has changed the tax class on the vehicle to an exempt duty tax class

Thanks for that Fletch, I tax online and I suppose it saves them postage, there are ANPR readers all over now so they know who has or hasn't paid for tax.

A lot of companies won't insure commercial vehicles. My own insurance company LV didn't initially want to insure me when I got this Corsavan, and that is after insuring my Astravan for years. Eventually they had a change of heart, but I still had to start a new policy from scratch, wasn't allowed to just amend my previous policy. Jazus, I was doing more miles on my bike than in my van, only really used it for my fishing and shooting trips to the old quarry. Those comparison sites for commercials........Jazus, most of them were asking more than £100 over what LV are, and I think that that's a lot.

Have you ever tried direct line? They will not appear on any comparison site, they only take direct enquiries. I have been with them for about 9 years now, they are in my case consitently cheaper than anyone else. What I do is check the comparison sites then contact them by landline. If this is any help.. www.directline.com/

No Dinky, although I did try them a couple of years ago, they were well off the pace.
Just had a call from an outfit that specs in van insurance, he wanted to give me a quote. Most of those others specced in vans too and they were miles out.
Soddit...my mind is made up, staying with LV
