Didn't have any grief with methods etc Arch, When I logged on a screen came up saying I need to change my password with three options, email, text or call I asked for an email, didn't get one then asked for a call, as soon as I clicked the phone rang and I was given a 4 digit pin, put that in the box and it let me change the password and access ebay.

I must have just got mine changed before ebay started sending out emails, so didn't get all the choices. Used the same P/W for paypal and haven't had any comebacks

Arch, by using the same password for PayPal and eBay, you are bypassing the built in separation between the two (jointly owned) companies. When the password issue arose, this deliberate distinction between the two meant that PayPal was automatically not affected by eBay's dereliction of its duty of care to its users. I suppose it doesn't matter if you are funding it with a card with little or no credit like Anne?

Also Paypal is an encrypted site with it involving Credit/Debit cards, whilst ebay aint.

Encryption is generally fine and quite low levels of encryption are to all intents and purposes virtualy uncrackable. It's the strength of the password that is used to de-encrypt that is the week link. It's that old chestnut. the human touch. Thousand + bit encryption sounds impressive on the face of it, but is pointless with a giveaway password.
