Just to make an interesting race more interesting it would be nice to know what horses our drinkers have backed
I broke the bank and did Big Shu 50p E/W. good price but in with a chance because it's a stayer barring being brought down. My wife did Buckners Bridge 50p E/W unerring picked by a closed eye stab at the list in the paper with a kitchen knife.
What horses did you other drinkers do and if there is any unusual reasons for doing them please let us know what they are?

We don't watch it.My OH thinks its barbaric the height of the fences and the distance they have to run.She use to ride horses a few years ago and just loves them so she refuses to watch and neither of us gamble so in answer to your question Peter, haven't a clue. My uncle on the other hand...We use to work together and he was always having a bet.I remember Grand National day 1980,he was telling everyone on the site to get their money on a horse called Zongallero,it was very well fancied. He had £50 to win on it,which in those days was quite a bit of dosh, anyway it fell at the 2nd fence.. ...Not a happy chappy

Luck plays a massive part. Unless a horse is so good that it lead from start to finish there#s an odds on chance that it could be brought down and for that reason big bets are not par for this race. I'm sorry your wife doesn't like it but I can see her reasons why. I on the other hand am just a callous ba**ard wanting to watch the mayhem and hopefully make a few pence. Must away now the race is about to start.

I'll start watching it when they take those whips off the jockeys, and give them to the horses. Let those jockeys know what a whip across the arse feels like when they are trying their best. Actually, they might enjoy it, some of our politicians do. Allegedly

I'll start watching it when they take those whips off the jockeys, and give them to the horses. Nancy boy breaks his cover and comes clean. A supporter of the most upfront premier league team suddenly takes pity on horses because of whip, it's actually called a crop, happy jockeys but will watch his team's forwards grind the opposition into submission with their rolling mauls. The bloody horses are lucky they only have to jump fences. By the way I never saw or heard of a horse needing a vets treatment for excessive use of a jockeys crop causing injuries and there is a disciplinary committee to punish excessive use of the crop anyway so bestest friend stop being a horse loving hypocrite.

If someone hit a dog like that, they would be in court charged with cruelty to animals. Smudger, sod off, Pikeys ain't exactly famous for for treating animals properly.

Nothin' wrong with lovin' horses as witness Catherine the Great...(allegedly)
No-can-do on that race/spectacle either, whether whips or crops. Supposed cruelty is one thing, but merely in the interest of a tiny wager and "excitement" for the punters does not compute here.
Beer or flutter? my wages always go down the screech in preference. At least I'm guaranteed a gargle at the end.
