Hi everyone. I'm looking for free software that I can use on any site and that does NOT use the file format FLV.
Or failing that, does anyone kow of a good convertor that will work with Ashampoo's free burning software?
Thanks for any help.
Craig.

Craigy....if you are sensible enough (doubtful I know) to use Firefox, there is an addon "YouTube Video and Audio Downloader" which works. That of course is if it's UTube videos that you are after. Or another Addon called "Download Helper" which is supposed to work on lots of video sites. I've only used it on UTube tho'! A decent free converter is ... www.devede.org/ ... I use this on my Linux machine. Basic and easy to use.

Thanks for that Nob, I'll give it a try.
Davey boy, I've got them down-loader's, but Utube only works on Utube & the the other will only download in the FLV format & I can't find a convertor that works. The site's I use are Megashare.info & Viooz.co
Craig.

the other will only download in the FLV format Craig. If you try 'YouTube Video and Audio Downloader' like Dave says, you can change the settings to Mp4 format or others.

Maybe you guys can educate me as I'm not too bright with DVD's an' rippin' an' all. I've just "won" an eBay auction of M.A.S.H The Martinis and Medicine Collection! 36 DVD's......and no player to watch 'em on! Not a great hardship to view on my PC's 27" monitor but I'd rather be slouched on the couch, so to speak and viewing on my TV. I thought that I might be able to "rip" the set onto a new HDD mounted either internally or by USB so that I could use Serviio (my DLNA server) to stream the content to my TV. ...'course I wouldn't want to sacrifice the subtitles and the optional soundtrack that excludes that awful canned laughter, which is available using the DVD's! Any ideas how I could proceed and what (free) software I'd need to use!....(ever the skinflint!)
