Winpatrol caught this opening and blocked it, good dog. Any way reading about it its a nasty that changes the homepage. Couldn't remove via add/remove progs. The folder wouldnt delete as it was in use. System restore, the folder could then be removed. Sorted,

I'm not using Winpatrol, should I be ? If so, do I need to use, and pay for, the 'Plus' version ?

It notifies you of things trying to change browser settings and other thing in the start folder that want to run. I wouldn't have known conduit would have been my home page if the dog hadn't warned me and I could block it and then remove it. No you dont need to pay the free one is good but I use the plus one.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'd better get it installed then. Maybe just download the free version for now.

Here is the comparison sheet for Winpatrol free vs Plus As you can see there a few useful extra features in the PLUS version. I bought some Winpatrol licences a while back, to give to family members, when they were on offer and cheaper than Poundland Conduit and it's associated crap is easily dealt with using AdwCleaner too.

That link takes you to the 'How to use AdwCleaner' page.
