Well, last night I was having a drink with my pal Boycie. Boycie has a Samsung (S4 Galaxy I think) on a contract, he very rarely has the damned thing out of his hand and uses it for just about anything. It has a big screen, so he watches films on it when he's travelling, sports events, torrents, satnav, banking and buying stuff, all of this is done on his phone. Until now! Yep, last night someone mentioned buying a new mobile to him, Boycie really went 'off on one' He sez he's selling the sodding thing and buying a dead basic txt and call phone and a 'tablet' The reason for this sudden change apparently, is the 'Apps' that he wanted to download. Boycie reckons that most of these apps come bundled with all sorts of dodgy spying, nosing and downright intrusive stuff. From what I can work out, he wanted to download one app, and it wanted access to his phones microphone, front facing camera and lots more. Boycie reckons loads of apps are doing this. I asked why they just couldn't pick and chose, like you can with a 'custom install' with puter programs, 'Gee' who was also there, showed me a demo of downloading an App. Jazus!............it's all or nothing innit. I'm really surprised....has anyone else come across this problem?

Some do ask for access the memory cards etc.but its no different on a tablet with the same app. If its an app to record voice then obviously it needs to access the mic, picture app the camera, I don't think its dodgy if its from reputable maker of apps.

If you got a smartphone beware. You can be tracked anywhere if the thing is switched on. I use a Blackberry, not because it is the best, but it is THE MOST SECURE.

My HTC o2 contract ends in July and I think I'll go back to PAYG my mucker from Salford lives in Jersey now and the jokes have dried up so I don't send many texts and don't roam or phone so no need anymore, only a few texts and emergency use now.

I'm the same. I'm with T-Mob sim only, £8pm for 250mins, 500txts and 250mbs. I don't even come close to using that!

I'll not sign a 24 month one again.
